A visa is required for entry into Tanzania, which you must arrange yourself. You can apply for a visa directly through the Tanzanian government website at www.immigration.go.tz, where no additional administration fees are charged—just ensure you provide the correct details. Alternatively, you can purchase a visa upon arrival, but be prepared for wait times of up to two hours.
From October 1, 2024, travel insurance will be mandatory for trips to Zanzibar. This insurance must be obtained through the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. You can arrange and pay for it yourself via this link using a debit or credit card.
During the safari, only soft bags or backpacks with a maximum weight of 15 kg are allowed. If you are staying in an Airbnb before and after the safari, your additional luggage can be stored there.
The domestic flight from Zanzibar to Arusha operates with small aircraft, meaning the maximum luggage allowance is 15 kg per person.
The itinerary is subject to change to ensure the best possible experience. You will receive the finalized schedule closer to departure.
At low tide in Zanzibar, the ocean recedes significantly. Bringing water shoes is recommended for a beautiful walk through the shallow waters, where you may spot starfish and small crabs.
It is strongly recommended to have travel and cancellation insurance for your trip.
Zanzibar is a predominantly Islamic island, and modest dress is advised out of respect for local customs. Women typically wear light, breathable clothing that covers the upper arms and extends to the knees. While this is not mandatory, it aligns with the local dress code. A majority of the local women are fully veiled However, at the beach, swimsuits and bikinis are completely acceptable.
Malaria and other tropical diseases are present in Zanzibar. Consult your doctor or a travel health clinic (such as GGD) for necessary vaccinations and medication advice before your trip.
